PORTLAND-- Portland police have arrested a woman in connection with the shooting death of her husband.
68-year-old Nancy L. Crampton-Brophy, was arrested Wednesday at her Washington County home for murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Police began their investigation June 2 when students discovered 63-year-old Daniel C. Brophy's body inside the Oregon Culinary Institute, where he taught.
Authorities have said he was alone at the school when he was found.
Police said he died shortly after being shot.
Crampton-Brophy announced the death of her husband on Facebook a day after the killing, saying she was "struggling to make sense of everything right now."
"I've known her 30 years; I can't imagine. I just don't think she's capable," said Tania Medlin, a friend of the couple.
According to her website, Compton-Brophy is an author who specializes in "fiction books under the Romance Suspense genre."
Her bio also says she's "married to a chef whose mantra is: Life is a science project."
