The owner of a car being repossessed refused to give it up, even jumping onto the tow truck as it was dragged through the streets of a Los Angeles suburb.

Cellphone video of the car repossession was posted on Facebook Monday and has been shared more than 25,000.

KNBC-TV reported that a couple was driving in Compton, Calif., Monday around 10 a.m. when they spotted the wild scene and started recording it.

Investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department say a repo man was driving a tow truck and attempting to repossess a vehicle that had been left parked on the street due to non-payment.

The tow truck driver tried to get away, but the owner of the car jumped onto the truck to try and stop him.

KNBC-TV reported that witness James Harris said it looked like the man was trying to unhook the car from the tow truck.

Investigators said the owner of the car was holding a crowbar and smashed the rear window of the tow truck during the escape.

Video shows sparks were flying from the vehicle as it was dragged for more than 10 minutes through the streets.

Deputies finally pulled over the tow truck and questioned both men.

KNBC-TV reported that both men were released after being questioned, but authorities are considering charges against the owner of the car.
