9-year-old found living in shed amid drug bust

A 9-year-old girl was discovered living in a small shed in near San Diego, along with her father and an adult woman.

Sheriff's deputies were conducting a probation compliance check Thursday in Lakeside, Calif., when they discovered the trio.

Also found in the shed were a shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle, 8.1 grams of methamphetamine and items indicating narcotics sales. 

The 9-year-old girl was taken into protective custody. 

There were others on the property as well -- six men and two women were arrested and booked into jail.

They are facing a series of charges that include felony child endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a stun gun, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a dangerous drug (heroin), possession of narcotic paraphernalia and probation violations.

An agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms responded to the scene to evaluate for possible federal charges as well.
