Actor Bill Paxton's cause of death was stroke after heart surgery, death certificate says

A stroke that followed heart valve replacement surgery is what led to Actor Bill Paxton's death, according to his death certificate.

Paxton died Feb. 25 — 11 days after the surgery, celebrity news website TMZ reports.

The actor and director, who died at a hospital in Los Angeles, was 61 years old. He most recently appeared in the CBS series "Training Day."
