"The Beverly Hillbillies" star Donna Douglas, 81, died Thursday.
Family members told WAFB Channel 9 in Louisiana, which had the first report, that Douglas died Thursday morning at her home in Zachary, Louisiana. The actress starred as Elly May Clampett in the hit show, which ran from 1962-1971.
Douglas grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she was Miss Baton Rouge. She later was named Miss New Orleans in 1957, according to IMDb.com.
Before joining the cast of "The Beverly Hillbillies", Douglas also played roles on "Mister Ed", "Twilight Zone" and appeared on "The Jack Benny Program."
