Colin Kaepernick, the football star who became a national figure after kneeling during the national anthem, teased on Twitter Monday afternoon that he is the latest athlete to be the face of Nike's "Just Do It" campaign.

Kaepernick tweeted "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything" and used Nike's iconic slogan as a hashtag. The tweet also included a black and white photo of the athlete with the slogan and signature Nike swoosh on the bottom of the image.

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell also tweeted the image and said Kaepernick is "the face of the company’s 30th anniversary of the 'Just Do It' campaign."

The Super Bowl quarterback has not played on a team since 2016.

His national anthem protest drew the ire of some fans and President Donald Trump.

Since then, more football players have joined in, several taking a knee or raising a fist during the anthem.
