A Solon, Ohio father is facing a child endangering charge after police say he left his 7-year-old son home alone playing Grand Theft Auto with a gun sitting in plain view.
On Nov. 19, the boy was found knocking on doors at an apartment complex in Solon just after 12 p.m. Neighbors told police the boy said he was scared and had been left home alone.
According to police, the boy's father, 27-year-old Jasson Jones, left him in the apartment for about two hours before the child became scared and wandered out. Police said Jones had left the boy in a bedroom to play Grand Theft Auto and had told him not to leave.
A loaded handgun was found in plain view on a shelf in the bedroom's closet.
Jones turned himself into authorities the next day. He was charged with one count of child endangering.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 13.
