(WXIA/NBC) A man in Walton County, Ga., was recorded detonating a homemade lawn mower bomb and blowing off his leg.
David Presley, 23, packed a broken down lawn mower with Tannerite and used a high-powered bullet to explode it.
His friends were standing behind him recording.
When the homemade bomb went off, a piece of the lawn mower flew at Presley and severed his leg.
Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman said it is legal in Georgia to set off Tannerite on your own land, but a person should be a safe distance away.
Presley was standing 43 feet away from the explosives, which contained three pounds of Tannerite.
