Monday's presidential candidates debate was most-watched ever

In sixty years of televised presidential debates, Monday's was the most-watched.

Nearly 81 million people watched Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off on television. Millions more watched it online, according to CNN.

YouTube streams registered more than 2.5 million people streaming the debate, which took place at Hofstra University in New York.

For the television broadcast, viewership never dropped off during the hour-and-a-half show, CNN reports.

The largest watched before this was in 1980 when 81 million watched Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan debate each other.
