Dog crushed to death at PetSmart during grooming appointment, owner says

A Las Vegas woman says her 2-year-old bulldog was crushed to death by a grooming table during a recent appointment at PetSmart.

According to KVVU, Vikki Seifert's dog, named "Minni," was getting a bath and a nail trim at a PetSmart store in Las Vegas a few days after Christmas when the unthinkable happened. Just 13 minutes after leaving Minni with the groomers, she was dead.

Seifert told KVVU that she noticed employees rushing to the grooming area after leaving Minni there.

“I ran in there,” the Nevada woman said. “When I went in, she was crushed under a grooming table. They said that they had listened for her heartbeat and she was gone.”

The grieving pet owner says she can't seem to get a complete answer about what happened.

"I don’t believe it was the weight of the table," she said. “It was the fact that it was electric and it had crushed her to the point that the table was closed all the way on her. And then with it being unplugged, there was no way to raise it."

According to a statement from PetSmart, they are investigating the incident. But until the probe is complete, Seifert is left with many questions — and no Minni.

"People’s pets are their family members," she said. "She wasn't just a pet."
