Domain game: Websites swipe Ted Cruz name

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has an official website.

But there are also some websites with the Texas Republican's name that sound official but are not.

While the official one tedcruz.org has links to donate money, find out more about Cruz or get involved, a similar site tedcruz.com simply has a black screen advising people to support President Barack Obama as well as immigration reform.

Another site, tedcruzforamerica.com, directs people to healthcare.gov so they can enroll in a plan through the Affordable Care Act.

Gobbling up the domains of public officials or candidates for office is not a new trend. People grabbed domain names for expected Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, according to Time

Still, some take over domain names for alternative reasons, CNN reported.
