It was a moment of shock and wild applause in New Hampshire on Monday night, when Donald Trump insulted Ted Cruz by repeating a dirty word shouted by an audience member.

Though Trump isn’t necessarily known to keep it “toned down,” he may have gone too far when he compared the Texas Senator to an offensive word referring to female genitalia.

It happened in Manchester, after a female audience member first barked the word out as Trump discussed Cruz’s stance on waterboarding. Cruz, who has taken an anti-torture stance, has suggested that he’s against bringing waterboarding back into widespread use.

“He’s a pussy!” the unidentified audience member yelled about Cruz, prompting Trump to repeat the phrase in a snarky manner.

“You’re not allowed to say, and I never expect to hear that from you again,” Trump said when he heard the woman. “She said he’s a pussy.”

As the audience laughed, cheered and chanted Trump’s name, the Republican presidential candidate joked, “I want to just tell you right now, ma’am, you’re reprimanded, ok?”

Monday night, on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, Trump continued to lead the
state’s Republican race.
