Former NFL quarterback Doug Flutie took to Facebook on Wednesday to share the heartbreaking story of the death of both of his parents.
According to the post, Flutie's father, Dick, had been ill for some time and suffered a heart attack on Wednesday morning. Less than an hour later, his mother, Joan, suffered a heart attack of her own and also passed away.

Flutie rose to prominence as the quarterback of Boston College in the mid-1980s. He played nearly 20 years of professional football in the NFL, the United States Football League (USFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). Since retiring from football in 2005, he's worked in broadcasting and is currently a color commentator for Notre Dame football on NBC.
