Facebook video purporting to show baby abuse prompts San Diego police investigation

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Facebook video that shows an act of child abuse has sparked outrage online.

San Diego-based KGTV received multiple tips regarding the video, which was posted at about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday on a San Diego woman's Facebook page.

In the post, a video clip shows a person's hand striking a baby's head three times, leading to the child crying. The post also includes two images showing a child holding a knife.

Shortly after the video was posted, police said they received multiple calls from people concerned about the post and the suicidal threats made by the child's mother.

Police say the mother and the child have been located as police continue their investigation into the incident.

According to police, the mother, later identified as Jowi Victoria Morales, 18, and baby were found around 1:15 p.m. 

Morales was taken into the custody on outstanding domestic violence charges. 

The video has garnered over 25,000 views since it was posted.
