Gerber issues precautionary recall for pasta over allergy concerns

Gerber announced Wednesday it is voluntarily recalling packages of pasta to clarify the fact that it contains allergens.

Gerber posted on its website that it is recalling Cheese Ravioli Pasta Pick Ups because the packaging doesn’t warn customers that the product contains egg.

The company clarified the move was purely precautionary as to better protect children.

“As a precautionary measure to protect little ones with egg allergies, we have chosen to voluntarily remove this product from our retail and on-line stores until labels are updated,” Gerber CEO Bill Partyka wrote.

Packages of pasta affected by the recall contain the UPC code 159070. Gerber also clarified that children without food allergies are safe to eat the pasta.
