A grandmother who accidentally texted the wrong person about Thanksgiving 2016 dinner became an online sensation for it because she welcomed the stranger anyway.

The pair met and had dinner in 2016, and it happened again this year, according to the teen who posted the reunion on his Twitter account.

Wanda Dench of Mesa, Arizona told the Arizona Republic that this year she reminisced with the 18-year-old Jamal Hinton, of Tempe, about last year's get-together. They talked about how it caused her to have to get a new phone number because images of the accidental text, showing her number, went viral.

Dench said she and Hinton text about once a week and talk about his future and how he's doing, much like a grandmother and grandson would. Hinton has become extended family, she said.

The dinners together will be an annual tradition, the pair told the newspaper.
