Italy presses Egypt for truth in student torture case

ROME (AP) — Italy says it is recalling its ambassador from Cairo for "urgent" consultations as Rome presses to learn the "truth" in the torture and slaying of an Italian graduate student in Egypt.

The Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni made the decision after two days of meetings in Rome between visiting Egyptian investigators and Italian prosecutors and police regarding the slaying of 28-yaer-old Giulio Regeni.
