Kentucky Derby bans selfie sticks

If someone at the Kentucky Derby needs to stretch past a large hat to take a photo of himself, he won't be able to using a selfie stick.

An official release from Churchill Downs states the sticks and drones have been added to the banned list. The need to do so "grew out an increase in the popularity of drones and concern for the safety of Derby and Oaks Day patrons, the horses competing in races those days, and participating horsemen and members of their respective staffs,” the statement said.
