Posted

Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit is reporting that a lockdown has been lifted at a Dearborn, Mich. mall after shots were fired earlier today. The gunman is on the loose, and there are no reports of injuries.

Dearborn police are investigating at this time. They say the situation is under control and there is no risk to the public or to shoppers.

According to a witness who was getting a drink, she heard a shot and then saw a man with a gun. She said there was another person with a gun that fired a shot as well.

The shooting happened at or near a jewelry around 4:37 p.m.

All evening classes at nearby Henry Ford Community College are canceled because of the shooting. They are urging students on campus to take shelter, lock doors and silence phones.

University of Michigan Dearborn has also canceled classes for the rest of the evening.
