A Japanese man created a bubbling sensation on YouTube after he coated his body with Mentos candies and then immersed himself in a bathtub full of Coke Zero. The result was — interesting.
The rough, pitted surface of Mentos candy helps break the bond between water and the carbon dioxide gas that's dissolved in it, According to Scientific American. That explains why Mentos causes the soda to bubble.
There is no scientific explanation, however, for sitting in a bathtub full of the stuff.
