Police officers know that even when they're off the clock, duty still can call.

Detective Chase McKeown and Officer Nicole McKeown of the Elizabethtown (Kentucky) Police Department in Kentucky proved that on Saturday night when their date night was interrupted by an armed robbery.

The couple, who have been married for six months, was enjoying their night off at a Louisville Raising Cane's on Saturday when a hooded man wearing a surgical mask entered the restaurant. According to surveillance video released by the Louisville Metro Police Department, the man flashed a gun to the cashier and demanded money from the register.

"I saw her hands go up and I'm thinking 'Is he doing what I think he's doing?'," Nicole McKeown told WLKY.

The McKeowns were eating in a booth in the back of the restaurant. After a few moments, the couple noticed what was happening and sprung into action.

"We just looked at each other. 'Is this what's going on?' Let's go," Chase McKeown told WLKY. "Instincts took over and we just did like we felt we needed to do."

The two pulled out their guns and yelled toward the suspect, who immediately fled the restaurant. The couple chased the suspect out of the restaurant, and according to NBC News, through the streets of downtown Louisville. According to WHAS, they later detained him.

The suspect, identified as Justin Carter, is facing charges of robbery, receiving a stolen firearm and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to WHAS.

The Elizabethtown Police Department lauded the McKeons in an Instagram post on Tuesday.

"We couldn't be more proud of two of our finest, Detective and Officer Mckeown...#couplegoals," the department wrote.
