Posted

Midroll Media announced it is teaming up with the NFL and Vox Media at the company’s IAB Podcast Upfront presentation.

The leading podcasting company will venture further into sports podcasting by representing advertising sales with the NFL for its existing podcasts.

Such shows include “Around the NFL,” “Move The Sticks,” and “Fantasy Live.” Midroll and the NFL also will partner on new programming such as the “Game Theory and Money” podcast. Individual teams also will have a chance to work with Midroll for their podcasts.

Vox Media, meanwhile, will join Midroll and Stitcher to launch its first daily news podcast. Midroll will serve to provide creative consultation and be the exclusive advertising partner of the show. Vox Media is set to launch the show in early 2018.

Midroll also announced a slew of new podcasts coming this fall.

The company has signed true-crime podcast “My Favorite Murder,” where hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark discuss their favorite murder stories. The two hosts are working to develop a full network inspired by the show.

“With our ability to serve every part of the podcast community — from creators to advertisers to listeners — Midroll is positioned to help bring the world’s best shows to light across a wide spectrum of genres,” Midroll Media CEO Erik Diehn said in a news release. “We believe all listeners deserve excellent programming, and we’re committed to increasing the diversity of shows and audiences, another important way we help advertisers reach engaged podcast fans.”

Midroll also announced “Heaven’s Gate” hosted by Glynn Washington of “Snap Judgment” will launch. The show is a 10-part series taking an unconventional look at mass suicide.

“Raised by Television” hosted by Emmy-nominated actress and comedian Lauren Lapkus along with actor and writer Jon Gabrus. The two will discuss TV shows of the ‘80s and 90s through laughter and a touch of nostalgia.

“Unladylike” will star Cristen Conger and Caroline Ervin — a team that worked together on “Stuff Mom Never Told You.” “Unladylike” will investigate and crowdsource women-centric topics.

Finally, Midroll announced “Dr. Gameshow” will be hosted by Jo Firestone and Manolo Moreno. The two play original game shows with comedians and listener call-ins. The games will be submitted by people throughout the world.

Midroll Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of The E.W. Scripps Company, which also owns this broadcaster and its website.
