Mylan announces major EpiPen recall

Posted
and last updated

Meridian Medical Technologies, makers of the Mylan EpiPen, has announced it is recalling select batches of EpiPens due to a potential defect.

In a press release issued Friday, the company stated that the defect “could make the device difficult to activate in an emergency.”

The EpiPens were distributed to stores between December 2015 and July 2016, and contain expiration dates of April 2017, September 2017 of October 2017.

Mylan also warned EpiPen users to hang on to their defective devices until receiving a replacement, as there is a chance the devices could still work.

Generic EpiPens also produced by Meridian Medical Technologies are not affected by the recall.

Those affected by the recall will be given replacements free of charge. Anyone affected is to call Stericycle at 877-650-3494. Anyone with additional questions can call Mylan Customer Relations at 800-796-9526 or email customer.service@mylan.com.
