A naked man ran for nearly a mile on a busy highway Wednesday evening after crashing into six cars with his truck, state troopers said.

Six people were hurt in the crash.

The naked man, Tracy Martin, 44, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, sped down the left-hand shoulder in his 1994 GMC pickup truck, sideswiped four cars and rear-ended a fifth, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Then, troopers said, Martin's truck hit the median, flipped and slammed into a sixth vehicle.

After his truck stopped Martin got out of the wreckage and took off running.

A witness who called Hamilton County dispatchers said she and several other people tailed the man as he jogged down the fast lane of the highway.

911 Caller: "He has no shoes on, he is completely naked. People were offering him shirts out the window. ... He was ignoring them."

She offered to stay on the line until the man was in custody.

911 Caller: "I'm very concerned he's obviously impaired, there's something wrong. We don't know why he's doing what he's doing."

Another witness, Mindy Banks, spotted the man as a state trooper who was assisted by an off-duty Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy stunned Martin with a Taser and captured him about a mile from the crash site.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 71 were closed for more than an hour near Interstate 275.

The highway patrol is investigating whether Martin was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts website, Martin faces a charge of aggravated vehicular assault and vehicular assault as a result of the incident.

Troopers did not release the names and updated conditions of those injured in the collision by Thursday morning.
