Netflix is working on a live-action series based on Nintendo's popular "The Legend of Zelda" video games, according to a new report today from The Wall Street Journal.
Quoting a source "familiar with the matter," the story indicates the series would be like "'Game of Thrones' for a family audience."
The series, set in the fictional kingdom of Hyrule, follows a boy named Link who continually rescues a princess named Zelda. "The Legend of Zelda" series has been one of Nintendo's top properties since the first game in 1987; sales estimates indicate the series has sold around 70 million copies since then.
So far, neither Netflix or Nintendo officials have commented on the report.
In 1989, Nintendo produced a syndicated animated series called, "The Legend of Zelda." The show ran for just 13 episodes.
