AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine state police have arrested a New York man in the killings of an Augusta couple who were found shot to death early on Christmas Day.
Officials say Rochester, New York, native David Marble Jr. was arrested Tuesday when police stopped a car in which he was a passenger in Augusta.
Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland says Marble was charged with murder in the deaths of Eric Williams and Bonnie Royer, who were shot inside an SUV in Manchester. McCausland says the killings were drug related but won't comment further.
Marble had been living in an apartment in Augusta. He was booked into the Kennebec County Jail and is expected to be in court Wednesday or Thursday. He can't be reached for comment by telephone. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
