NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The teacher credited with stopping a school shooting at Noblesville West Middle School was released from the hospital on Saturday.

Police say science teacher Jason Seaman, 39, tackled a student armed with two handguns who started firing in his classroom Friday morning. He was shot three times during the incident.

Rep. Susan Brooks released a photo showing her meeting Saturday with Seaman at the school where the shooting occurred.

He tweeted to ask for continued support for 13-year-old Ella Whistler who was also wounded in Friday's shooting.

After undergoing surgery on Friday Seaman's condition was updated to "good" and IU Health released the following statement on Saturday.

"We received one adult patient and one teenage patient after the shooting in Noblesville, IN. The adult was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital. The child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children.
Today, we do not have a patient by the name of Jason Seaman in our IUH system."

Seaman's wife provided a statement to the media on behalf of her husband Friday evening thanking the first responders and students for their support.

"First of all, thank you to the first responders from Noblesville and Fishers for their immediate action and care. I want to let everyone know that I was injured but am doing great. To all the students, you are all wonderful and I thank you for your support. You are the reason I teach."

His mother, Kristi, said on Facebook that her son was shot in the abdomen, the hip and the forearm.

President Trump took to Twitter Saturday thanking Seaman for his "heroic act."

According to his LinkedIn page, Seaman has been a science teacher at Noblesville schools since July 2014. He is also the head football coach for the seventh-grade team.

A student who was in the classroom at the time of the incident credited the teacher with stopping the shooting from being worse than it was.

Neighbors tell RTV6 that Seaman has two young children. His wife had a baby in April. Steve Vedder says Jason was the kind of guy who would do anything for anybody.

The suspected shooter, a student at the school, is in custody. The suspect has not been identified by police because he is a juvenile.
