INDIANAPOLIS -- The roof of a luxury apartment complex near downtown Indianapolis caught fire Friday morning.

The building is on Massachusetts Ave. Businesses on the ground floor include FortyFive Degrees, Yogulatte and Toolbox. Nobody was hurt in the fire.

The fire was contained to a wooden deck on the roof of the building. It caused about $500,000 in damage, mainly from water used to put out the fire.

About 20 people were evacuated from the fire. They can't go back inside because the utilities are shut off in the building. Indianapolis Fire Department spokesperson Rita Reith said it could be as many as three days before they are able to return.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

One person living nearby said they heard two explosion-like sounds before seeing the fire around 7:20 a.m.
