HALTON, Canada – A Canadian teenager is being praised for her honesty and integrity after turning over a large sum of money she found on the ground over the weekend.

Halton Regional police say the 17-year-old girl was walking in Milton, a town near Toronto, when she noticed a package on the ground.

Upon inspection, police say the teen discovered the package contained several bank deposit envelopes with thousands of dollars in cash inside.

“It was apparent that the deposit envelopes were from a local business,” wrote police in a press release< /span> on Sunday.

The girl promptly brought the cash to the police department, where officers were able to get in contact with the business and the money was returned.

Police say the deposit envelopes had been inadvertently dropped by an employee.
