Pregnant woman impersonates April the giraffe, video goes viral

Not everyone is taking the delayed gratification of a giraffe birth lying down.

A pregnant South Carolina woman posted a 7-minute video of her dancing around with a giraffe mask. The video is set from the same angle of the prominent video shown of April the giraffe, a pregnant giraffe.

Erin Dietrich's video features her dancing, sitting and stretching with a giraffe mask on her head. The video has gotten more than 5.2 million views and has more than 125,000 shares as of Monday morning — less than 12 hours after the original post.

The giraffe, meanwhile, is still pregnant. Animal Adventure Park, located in Binghamton, New York has been posting live video and updates for April's labor since Feb. 22. The labor got national attention after animal rights activists complained that the video was sexually explicit.

The 15-year-old giraffe's calf — her fourth — is expected to weigh about 150 pounds and stand 6-feet tall. A naming contest is expected to take place once the calf is born. The "active labor" is expected to take 30 minutes, according to the zoo. April is not in active labor.

The zoo welcomed Black belly sheep twins shortly before the giraffe mania occurred, but the sheep received much less fanfare.
