Pro-Biden super PAC debuts new ad ahead of 1st Dem debate

Posted

WASHINGTON (AP) — The super PAC trying to persuade Vice President Joe Biden to run for president is launching a new television ad after pulling its first ad off the air at Biden's request.

Draft Biden says it's spending $250,000 to air the ad on CNN ahead of the first Democratic primary debate Tuesday night, and again on Wednesday.

The super PAC's first ad was released last week and focused on the car accident that killed Biden's wife and baby daughter in 1972. But Biden let it be known that the ad hit too close to home.

The new ad instead uses archival audio of Biden campaigning for President Barack Obama and touting the importance and dignity of jobs.

Biden has been considering a 2016 run for months.
