TOKYO — The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which were slated to start on July 24, are going to be postponed due to concerns over the coronavirus, according to a report in USA TODAY.
International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound told the publication on Monday that the Olympics will be postponed, likely to 2021.
"On the basis of the information the IOC has, postponement has been decided," Pound told USA TODAY Sports in a phone interview.
Further details will be worked out in the coming weeks, according to Pound.
On Sunday, the IOC said it will take four weeks to determine what will happen with the Tokyo Games.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will air on WPTV.
