Request for dog photos for sick child goes viral

It all started with a few visits from therapy dogs to Phoenix Children's Hospital, but now nearly 750,000 people from around the world are "bringing" their pets to the bedside of one special young boy.

Anthony is getting chemotherapy at PCH for acute lymphoblastic leukemia and, like many kids at the hospital, enjoys visits from furry friends. They don't come every day, though, so a family friend decided to find a way to make him smile all the time.

A Facebook event, "Photo Doggies for Anthony" has gone viral thanks to dog (and cat) owners from different countries who have posted well wishes for him and photos of their pets.

"I cannot express the joy we have gotten from these photos," they said on Facebook. "We have looked at each and every photo and video and we laugh and sometimes cry just from the outpouring of support."

Every time you refresh the Facebook page, new photos of adorable pups pop up and show just how far his page reaches.

"I am amazed at how quickly this event has blown up and it makes me so happy to know how many people enjoy their pets as much as Anthony and I do. Your pets have brightened our days so much and it just shows you the power of pet (therapy) and animal healing. This just shows what great people animal lovers are and we are really feeling the love from you and your pets in this difficult time.

"Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts."
