Police: Suspect arrested in death of homeless, blind man beaten with extinguisher

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police say a homeless man was found beaten to death in the parking garage of a Nashville bus station on Monday.

The call came in around 5:45 a.m. at the bus station located on Charlotte Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say they found the victim, who had been beaten to death with a fire extinguisher. Investigators did not release the victim’s name but said the 49-year-old was homeless and blind.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the man’s death. Police confirm 32-year-old Brandon Brown is charged with criminal homicide.

A motive behind the beating is not yet known.

Music City Central said in a statement that the victim was found on the fifth level of its parking garage, saying in part: “The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department is onsite, and WeGo is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. MNPD will provide additional details once they are confirmed.”
