Thank you for your service: Restaurants offering free meals for vets, active duty

As a thank you to veterans of the U.S. armed forces, dozens of restaurants are offering free meals on Wednesday for Veterans Day. Check out our list below of different offers. Beverages and gratuity are not included, unless noted.

Applebee’s: Veterans and active duty can receive a free dine-in entrée off of Applebee’s special menu. Items include the American Standard Burger and Fiesta Lime Chicken.

Bob Evans: With proof of service, veterans and active duty can receive a free dine-in breakfast entrée, including the Sunrise Breakfast or a stack of hotcakes.

California Pizza Kitchen: With proof of service, veterans and active duty are able to select from a limited menu, which includes six pizzas, five full-size salads or three pasta dishes.

Cracker Barrel: Veterans can enjoy a free double chocolate Coca Cola cake.

Denny’s: With a valid military ID, customers can receive a free Grand Slam breakfast from Denny’s from 5 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

Golden Corral: The buffet joint is offering current and active duty military and reservists a free meal at the buffet from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The meal includes a free beverage.

Hooters: All day Wednesday, veterans and active duty military can choose from one of five entrees, including Hooters’ famous wings.

IHOP: Participating IHOP locations will serve former and current military a free stack of red, white and blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Little Caesar’s: The pizza joint will offer its typical $5 lunch of four slices and a 20 ounce beverage for free to veterans and active military from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Max and Erma’s: Max and Erma’s will offer its three-course combo of a cheeseburger, cookie, and soup or salad for veterans and active duty Wednesday.

McCormick & Schmick's: The steak and seafood joint is offering free entrees for veterans and active duty on Sunday, Nov. 8.  The restaurant has 10 free entrees available for military.

Olive Garden: Former and active military can choose from one of five entrees off of Olive Garden’s Veterans Day menu. The best part for veterans with a family is veterans can get 10 percent off for their family’s bill.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt: Veterans and active military can get up to 11 ounces of free frozen yogurt Wednesday at participating locations.

Outback Steakhouse: With a valid military ID: Outback Steakhouse is offering a free Bloomin’ Onion Wednesday.

Red Lobster: From Monday to Thursday, Red Lobster is offering a free appetizer or dessert with proof of service. Veterans and active duty can choose from 11 appetizers or five desserts.

Red Robin: This burger joint is offering veterans and active duty a free Red’s Tavern Double Burger and fries all day Wednesday.

Ruby Tuesday’s: The chain will offer a free appetizer with proof of service all day Wednesday.

Sizzler: The restaurant is offering a free lunch entrée and beverage for veterans and active military through 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Smokey Bones: The restaurant is offering a free entrée for veterans and active duty all day Wednesday. Military can choose from one of five entrees during the day. Smokey Bones also offers military 10 percent off their meal year round.

Starbucks: Veterans, active duty and military spouses are able to get a free 12-ounce coffee all day Wednesday for free.

Other deals:

Sports Clips and Great Clips are offering veterans free haircuts to veterans and active duty on Wednesday.
