An Atlanta man is now facing animal cruelty charges after he posted a video of himself setting off fireworks next to his terrified dog on the Fourth of July.

Animal Lives Matter has reposted the video their Facebook page and it has been viewed thousands of times. Many are angry and thousands of people are calling for the owner to be charged.

WSB-TV reports that the owner, William Scaffidi, now faces animal cruelty charges as well as a charge for not having a Fulton County license for the dog.

The video shows his dog, Betty Boop, jump and run off terrified as soon as the first bangs go off. She was visibly startled by the explosions.

Scaffidi told WSB-TV that it wasn't a prank and that he didn't even know the dog was there in the first place.

In the end, he said he regrets his decision.
