Posted
A Washington woman has tracked down a young boy who recently left a heartbreaking letter on her doorstep, along with a $5 bill.

Earlier this month, Christina Reitz of Lakewood found posted about the incident on Facebook, hoping to be connected with the boy, who only identified himself as Jake, the Daily Mail reports.

The handwritten note placed on Reitz’s doorstep admitted that and his sister had stolen a wind chime because it reminded them of their dead mother.

Jake pleaded, “I am sorry that we sold your wind chime our mom died and liked butterflies so my sister took it to put by our window I am sorry this is only money I have please do not be mad at us.”

Christina Reitz found this note from  a boy apologizing for stealing her wind chime on March 3

When Reitz posted about the letter on a local Facebook group, she reportedly responded, “Well, Jake I’m not sure who you are but you can come get your money back sweetie. I had 3 of those wind chimes, you can come back get your money back and have one also so both of you have your own. I am not mad. Please come over to my house.”

Reitz was flooded with messages by locals, but ultimately found the boy when his aunt responded to the original post.

According to her latest update, Reitz plans to meet the boy soon.
