Runoff races to be decided Tuesday in PB County

Posted

Tuesday is Election Day in four Palm Beach County cities.

Voters head to the polls to decide the winners in contests that are required when a candidate does not get more than 50% of the vote.

In Boynton Beach, Mayor Jerry Taylor is looking to win his sixth term. He’s facing a challenge from Steven Grant, an attorney who served on the city’s financial advisory board.  There is a 47-year age difference between the two; Taylor is 80 and Grant is 33.

In Jupiter, Karen Golonka, who had been mayor for 24 years in Jupiter, is seeking a seat on the town council. She faces opposition from Wayne Posner, who’s served on the town’s planning and zoning commission.

In Riviera Beach, two city council races are being contested. In District 1, incumbent Bruce Guyton faces a challenge from former city council member Lynn Hubbard.  In the other race, legislative aide Sylvia Lee Blue faces Tonya Davis Johnson, who heads the Palm Beach County Office of Small Business Assistance.

In Pahokee, Herbert Crawford and Clara Murvin face-off in a city commission race.
