Tuesday morning a local organization entered into the national spotlight for helping protect paradise.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is doing its part to continue their efforts of saving sea turtles right off our coast.

Tuesday morning staff and volunteers helped release a special green sea turtle named "Today" on the Today Show.

Our cameras were there to capture the release and NBC’s Kerry Sanders report behind the scenes.

The 265-pound sea turtle was recovering at the Loggerhead Marinelife life center after swallowing a fishing line.

Fortunately there were no fishhooks and a week later Today was healthy and ready to go home.

“This is the thing we work for all the time, and it’s a great feeling to be able to do that,” said Dr. Charlie Manire, director of rehabilitation.

Today was then transported from her tank onto a trailer and headed to Juno beach where she took her first steps live on the Today Show.
