UPDATE:

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said 17-year-old Petrona Corio Reimundo tragically passed away Friday morning after being pulled from a swimming pool at a Palm Beach County mobile home park earlier this week.

Karla Abitalia Morales Ruiz, 5, was pronounced dead on Tuesday, the same day of the tragic accident.

Authorities said the victims had drifted to the deep end of the pool and neither could swim.

EARLIER STORY:

A child and a teenager are hospitalized after being pulled from a swimming pool at a Palm Beach County mobile home park on Tuesday afternoon, officials say.

The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. at the Casa del Monte Mobile Home Park.

"I’m hoping and praying to God that everybody is well and alive," said Kevin Morrissey, a resident.

Morrissey was one of several Casa del Monte Mobile Home Park residents shaken up by the swarm of emergency crews who responded to a near-drowning at the neighborhood pool.

WPTV was told the first arriving crews pulled a 17-year-old and 5-year-old out of the pool, and paramedics worked quickly to get both girls to the hospital.

Resident Luis Eusebio said he saw first responders rush to both victims.

"I saw a little girl laying over there. The cops were doing CPR and there was another lady laying down over there," Eusebio said.

What's not yet known is just how both girls wound up in the water. Neighbors said it's difficult to hear about two girls now both in the hospital.

"They are very good people, in general. They’re all very good people," Eusebio said.

WPTV was initially told by officials both girls were critically hurt. But we have not received an update on how they are doing as of Tuesday night.
