Area schools have become safer in the past years, according to state records.
All area districts have reported fewer safety incidents to the Florida Department of Education.

The Department collects data on 26 incidents of crime, violence and disruptive behaviors that occur on school grounds, on school transportation and at off-campus, school-sponsored events.
The downward trend is significant, at least 10 percent since 2013 for all of our school districts and affects every reporting category.
Most common incidents are fighting, which account for up to one-third of all incidents.
