The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is trying to track down vandals firing BB guns.

Someone is shooting out the windows of cars and homes.

There have been several reported cases since April in suburban Boynton Beach and suburban Lake Worth.

Several residents found their car windows shot out on Lansdowne circle in suburban Boynton Beach a few weeks ago. It appears this neighborhood had the most homes it.

"It's a safe neighborhood, but I think it's just kids from other neighborhoods, vandals that are just hitting people," said Chet Hartogsohn, local resident.

Hartogsohn says this is the second time his son's car is hit by bb gun vandals. Both times he had to shove out more than 200 dollars to fix the windows.

"It’s very frustrating," Hartogsohn said.

Another homeowner on the same street says one of his guests had the back windows of her car shot out too.

Alex Shkop owns Guns and Range Training Center in West Palm Beach. He showed how an air-soft gun can still cause some damage. He says BB guns are way more dangerous.

"Any metal projectile traveling that can definitely cause severe damage," said Shkop.

Shkop says BB guns are not classified as a firearm, but they can be just as fatal if they hit someone in a sensitive area.

"It will definitely break skin and it will definitely cause damage," added Shkop.
