PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- The staff at Lion Country Safari announced the death of one of their beloved chimpanzees, Peter, on Friday.
Chimp keepers found Peter unresponsive and surrounded by his social group.
Staff say he was interacting with his group members on Thursday night, was eating, and seemed happy.
Park staff believe he may have died of a heart attack, but will await necropsy results to determine a definitive cause.
