Food banks in the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast are asking the community to get involved in Hunger Action Month.
The public is asked to wear orange on Thursday to raise awareness for people in the need of food.
Food donation drives and other activities are also planned for the month to help the Treasure Coast Food Bank and the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
The following events are planned to help the Treasure Coast Food Bank:
- Hops Against Hunger, a friendly food drive competition among Vero Beach gathering spots being held Sept. 13-15
- Eat, Drink & Give, various Treasure Coast restaurants donate the price of an item for the entire month of September
- Cans for a Cause - Downtown Fort Pierce businesses creating structures from canned food items - Sept. 8-30

The following events are planned to help the Palm Beach County Food Bank:
- “A Magical Night to Fight Hunger” on Sept. 27 - The evening will feature a progressive three-course dinner under the stars at Downtown at the Gardens. Some of the restaurants involved include Yard House and Avocado Grill. There will be a strolling magician and other surprises. All proceeds from the benefit will go to the Palm Beach County Food Bank. Tickets can be purchased at PBCfoodbank.org
For the month of September, 10 percent of proceeds from the carousel rides at Downtown at the Gardens will be donated to the Food Bank.
There will also be a month-long food drive in September at Downtown at the Gardens, which the public is invited to donate non-perishable food items. All items collected will be donated to the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
The public can also drop their items off at the collection boxes along The Boulevard near Carousel Court. They are also donating $1 to the Palm Beach County Food Bank for every single use of the hashtag #MakeHungerDisappear on Instagram.
