GREENACRES, Fla. — Before you get into your car to drive to work or school, consider "mixing it up." The Florida Department of Transportation wants you to do just that and explore other modes of transportation during this year's Mobility Week.
FDOT is encouraging Florida residents to take part in the "Mix-It-Up Challenge" Oct. 25 through Nov. 1.
The goal behind this initiative is to make a positive impact on the state’s transportation system and explore South Florida without having to worry about traffic, find parking and the cost of gas.
Alternative modes of transportation include:
- Riding the train or bus
- Teleworking
- Carpooling
- Biking
- Walking to work or school

If you keep a log of your trips, you will be automatically entered in a drawing for prizes. Winners will be selected randomly, and prizes include gift cards and passes to local attractions.
