PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Heated moments between a parent dropping off her child at school and a Palm Beach County School police officer ended in an arrest.

The altercation happened at Liberty Park Elementary School in Greenacres on Tuesday morning in front of the school when parents were dropping their kids off. Pracilla Alejandro, 29, of Greenacres has been charged with one count of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and one count of resisting arrest with violence.

According to the arrest report on Oct. 2 a school police officer told Alejandro that she was illegally parked in a crosswalk and needed to move.

The officer says Alejandro responded by saying, “You are not a real cop. You are just a school cop.”

The report says Alejandro decided to open her door in the middle of the altercation and the officer placed her body within the door and the frame of the vehicle.

That’s when police say Alejandro stepped on the accelerator dragging the officer 20 to 25 feet. The officer suffered bruises and abrasions. Alejandro's child was also in the car the entire time. Parents we spoke with say people parking illegally isn’t uncommon in the morning but they’ve never seen it end like this.

“School starts at 8:00 a.m. - but I drop them off no later than 7:30 a.m,” said Tamara Jackson, the parent of three children that attend Liberty Elementary School.

“It does get hectic - especially with the lines,” added Angel Figueroa, a parent of a kindergartener that attends Liberty Elementary School. “It takes a little bit of patience.”

Alejandro was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a $3,000 bond.
