Here's how to take advantage of Florida's hurricane tax-free holiday

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Are you prepared for hurricane season?

According to a recent AAA survey, 92 percent of Floridians are worried about the 2019 hurricane season. While 19 percent said they are more concerned than last year.

WPTV is helping you prepare ahead of the official start of hurricane season, which begins Saturday, with a list of disaster supplies you can buy during the upcoming sales tax holiday.

Starting May 31 through June 6, you will be able to take advantage of the week-long tax exemption on items like generators, batteries and flashlights.

Other items free of tax include:

- Portable self powered radios
- Tarps or waterproof sheets
- Gas or diesel fuel tanks
- AA, AAA, C, D, 6-volt or 9- volt batteries
- Non electric coolers
- Reusable ice packs
