There's concerns that king tides, which occur seasonly, may push red tide further on shore.
That's bad news for coastal residents who constantly deal with the annual flooding.
Along the Intracoastal in Delray Beach, Genie Holcomb and her daughter Jenny reflect on the annual high tides.
"Comes all the way up to the front door," said Genie. "When you're sitting here and looking out it looks like there's no separation between you and the Intracoastal."
The annual high tides coincide with an ongoing rare red tide event in our coastal waters from southern Palm Beach County to the Treasure Coast.
Low to high concentrations of Karenia Brevis have been found.
King tides could push the red tide further onshore.
"Feel it when you walk on the beach and we're very close to the ocean," said Judge Moss.
