Dangerous beach conditions

Red flags are flying at the Lake Worth Beach.

Lifeguards say strong winds are causing dangerous swimming conditions. They've spotted rip currents in the water. Waves are a lot higher than normal.

Gusts of wind have reached 25 mph.

It has been raining off and on at the beach. The Lake Worth Pier is still open.

One family from Georgia visiting the area says it hoped for sunshine and warm temperatures, not clouds and strong winds.

"When I first came down, it seemed almost hurricane strength. It's blowing hard. I actually came down thinking we'd fly some kites, but there is no way you're flying kites in this," John Paone says.

NewsChannel 5 did not see any surfers in the water.

Officials in Lake Worth, Delray Beach and Boca Raton say they have not seen any weather-related crashes or incidents so far today.
