A section of the I-95 overpass at 10th Avenue North in Lake Worth has been damaged.
The underside of the overpass was hit by equipment that was being hauled on a northbound trailer, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
At least one beam was damaged, FDOT said.
Three outside northbound lanes underneath the overpass were blocked and caused traffic backups during the lunch hour.
Crews began working to remove loose concrete on the beam and FDOT said all lanes reopened just before 4 p.m.
Eventually, the damaged beam will need to be replaced, FDOT said.
Engineers said it is now safe for traffic to travel in both directions across the 10th Avenue N overpass.
